Our Ethical Tag System

The Boren Footstool is crafted from trees that have already finished their commercial life producing mangoes. Instead of letting this wood burn to make room for new saplings, we repurpose it, giving it a new life while making room for fresh mango trees to thrive. All wood must meet EUTR standards and be sourced from responsibly managed forests.

This product is upholstered in a boucle fabric that is 100% cotton and natural yarn. Natural fibres are renewable, biodegradable, and durable, making them a sustainable choice.

We believe in sourcing furniture that can be maintained, repaired, upcycled, and passed on rather than ending up in landfills.

We are committed to being transparent, open, and honest about the environmental impact of our packaging. Our sustainable packaging initiative ranks each product based on how sustainably it is packaged.

This product has earned our Silver Tier, meaning we use recyclable materials wherever possible and some non-recyclable materials for justifiable reasons. Polystyrene provides the best protection for our furniture during transportation and ensures your product arrives undamaged.

We will continue to evaluate and improve our packaging over the coming years, aiming to minimise waste and find more sustainable alternatives wherever possible.

This piece of furniture was handcrafted in India by talented artisans using traditional methods of production in socially compliant factories. All factories have undergone a social audit by a respected assurance company and have been awarded a BSCI-compliant certification to guarantee that workers' rights are protected.

At Bokel, we have zero tolerance for the mistreatment of workers, violations of their rights, or the use of child labour. We refuse to work with any supplier throughout our chain who is unable to comply with our non-negotiable standards.
