Bokel Home & Lifestyle is named after a small rural village in northern Germany, where life moves slowly, and nature shapes daily rhythms. That perspective shapes how we run our business. We believe the things we bring into our homes should respect the world they come from and the people who help make them.
We recognise that creating new products has a significant impact, both on the planet and on the communities involved in their production. This is why we do not call ourselves a sustainable business. We are still changing and improving, and it would not feel honest to use that word as a claim.
Instead, we focus on making choices that feel responsible. We seek materials that last, makers who value fair and safe working conditions, and designs intended to be used and appreciated for many years to come. If we cannot get clarity on how something is made, or if it does not feel right, we step back and reconsider.
Some areas are still evolving. We are reviewing our courier services, working to improve our packaging, and reducing plastic wherever possible. Our Ethical Tagging System helps us understand each piece before it reaches our website, and it provides customers with clearer insight into materials, sourcing, and labour standards. If we are not comfortable with the information we have, we do not list the product.
This work will take time. We are not aiming for perfection or grand claims. Our aim is to keep moving in a direction that reflects an appreciation for nature, for people and for the homes our products eventually become part of.
We care more about what we do than what we call it.
